Her Ex-Boyfriend's Werewolf Lover Review

Her Ex-boyfriend’s Werewolf Lover is an Erotic Paranormal Romance by Cassie Alexander. Samantha and Max, the two protagonists, relayed the story from their perspectives. After the former prostitute Samantha’s boyfriend died, she was forced to contact a stranger for help. Said stranger was no other than Max, her dead boyfriend’s ex-lover. A werewolf who lived away from civilization. Both characters juggled their mistrust for each other through the first few chapters. They shared the pain of their loss and the anger that followed. Sex came in between and after because why the hell not? Sex could be a great stress reliever. Don't believe me? Ask Max and Samantha.
Cassie did an excellent job in keeping me invested in the characters. I was ready to be Max’s ride or die by the end of his first point of view. His sense of needing to belong tugged at my heart strings. The fact he searched for it in all the wrong places made him more human than he was. How many of us have made the wrong choices because of our fear? How many times have we given up on something to keep it safe, but to lose it in the end? I bet the answers for those questions were a lot. Fear is our greatest enemy. It’s there even when we don’t realize it.
I was a bit disappointed at the realization that Max was the bottom in his relationship with Vincent. I went into the novel with such a high expectation of the werewolf position in the relationship that the reveal knocked me a few pegs down. I had to set the book down. It was that impactful. A lesson well learnt. Never will I go into a book with expectations of a character ever again.
I got mixed up with the title a few times. It was from the third person point of view when the novel was in the first person. I was not sure why. It was after I used ‘My’ instead of ‘Her’ in my notes that it came to me that the title was in third person. I had to go back and change it. Thank God for my double checking. I believed the first point of view title would have reflected the story more since it was written in that format.
I was a bit confused with the ‘Then:’ used to represent the beginning of flashbacks. However, I quickly recovered and understood what was going on. My recovery never lasted long. I was confused again at the second flashback. The previous act of using “Then’ and ‘Now’ was not present. It went right into the flashback which caught me a little off guard. It took me the third flashback to realize it was the necklace that signified the beginning and ending of a flashback. It would have been better to stick with one method to hinder confusion. I would have gone with the necklace method from day one.
While on the topic of flashbacks, I would have to admit how annoying some of them were. The first few made me understand why everything mattered. The flashbacks with Max entwined with the plot of the story. I knew why he did what he did. Some of them with Samantha were not needed. The story would be fine without them. They broke off from the exciting plot, shattering the connection I had with the desire to find out what happened next. It would have been better to stick with the ones that were needed, the ones that didn’t distract from the story but elevated it.
All in all, I finished the story and was more than pleased with the ending. The smut scenes were hot. Oh, the heat was off the charts. I would rate Her Ex-boyfriend’s Werewolf Lover four out of five stars. In all truth, I would have given it three stars if it was not for the ending. This erotic romance would be in my list of recommended books. Her Ex-boyfriend’s Werewolf Lover is for those readers who are trapped in their thoughts of not wanting to move on because of their loss, those held down by the fear of betraying the person they lost. It’s for all those readers who believe trust and communication are major factors in a strong relationship.

Coming Up for Air Review

Book Source: Kindle  Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: Standalone Novel Starred Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Smut Rating: 🌶/5 Coming Up for Air by Amanda Meuwissen Review  I stumbled on this story and noticed the merman on the book cover. I didn't even think much into it---not even to read the synopsis---why I took such a chance was beyond me---and got the book. My childhood obsession with merfolks--not Ariel, I hated her---followed me into adulthood. Therefore, anything merfolk and I'm going to read it. This book fell into that category. And, I was glad I decided to read this book.   It all began when Leigh was dumped into the river by the mobster brothers, whom he stole from to appease the mafia he worked for. On the verge of drowning, he was kissed by an angel. Later he woke ashore without the shackles that the gangsters had tied around his ankle. Thinking nothing of it, Leigh went home, trying to come up with a plan to get himself out of the bind he ...

Ugly (Winter Sun, #1) Review

Book Source: Store Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: Standalone Series Starred Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Smut Rating: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 Ugly (Winter Sun, #1) Review I was in the mood for an omegaverse when I stumbled on Ugly. My God was I not disappointed in my spontaneous decision. Ugly was that MM Romance I never knew I had to read. Like Burke, you could take care of me any day. Any day.  Emerson, a homeless omega, had found solitude in the bar of an older Alpha for the past three months. He never had a problem with the routine exchange of a few meals for a petty job here and there around the bar with the large alpha. Burke was caring and made him feel safe.  Burke could care less about the chores he asked the omega to do. It was a simple trade. Plus, Emerson never caused problems and often left after. Until one winter night. Three days before his heat cycle started, Emerson ended up in Burke's bar begging him to be allowed to stay until his cycle was over. The...

Home Plate (Easton U Pirates, #2) Review

Book Source: Book Store Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: MM Standalone Series  Starred Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice Rating: 🌶🌶/5 Home Plate (Easton U Pirates, #2) Review The electricity went out in my area and while bored I read book one, Bat Boy in this Easton U Pirates series, in one sitting. I'm a sucker for character arcs, so when I noticed Mason and Domonic in Bat Boy, I immediately shipped them. It thrilled me to know my intuitions were good and the duo was going to be a couple. So, I continued the trend and stayed up until the blink of dawn to read book two. Not a healthy idea since I had stuff to do in the day, but I wouldn't be a bookaholic if I never did an all-nighter for the sake of reading.  Back to the review.  Mason was the grumpy asshole while Domonic was the caring type. He wasn't overly adorable which fit his character and how the whole plot tied to Mason. I adored the banter between the two. Dominic knew how to handle Mason. H...
