Book two of the Vicious Lost Boys series and I am here for it. The cliffhanger in book one got me intrigued. I jumped into book two to see what happened. Triggers includes Sex scenes, profanity, violence. I advise reading Nikki's content warning before jumping into this one.

The Dark One (Vicious Lost Boys, #2)

After The Never King came The Dark One in the Vicious Lost Boys series. Nikki St. Crowe once again gave us what we needed in this Peter Pan retelling. I figured the title referred to Vane, the character. However, it was still centered around The Lost Boys of Neverland. A continuation of the last scene in the first book, The Never King.
I liked the way Nikki wrote the novel. It made it seem as if I was watching a bad ass show on tv. Sex included. The story got more in debt of the lives of the people on Neverland. We got to know more secrets that showed us why everything mattered and why things were the way they were in book one. I liked the finer details, explaining the past and the present. It made everything easier to digest.
To be honest, I was never a Peter Pan fan. And reading this book made me realize more how much I didn't favor him. I did not like Winnie one bit either. Which was awful. How could I not like the two main characters? Prosperous. I did like Kas and Bash which made finishing the series okay. It was my invested like for them that caused me to hate the ending of The Dark One. I was screaming ‘No’ at the end. Like why her? It should have been one of the twins.
Regarding, I got book three because I am not a quitter. Sometimes. Even though, if it weren't for my books club, I would have DNR this series from book one. There were a few instances that had me puzzled like when characters knew details that they shouldn't have. I had to go back a few times and reread that passage to make sure I didn't miss anyone telling them about it. Which was odd. Anyways, I enjoyed book two. Much better than book one and that made me happy that I moved on instead of calling it quits. I rated The Dark One three stars out of five stars
I recommend The Dark One to readers who desire something different. Most times we are our worst critic, and we tend to be reserved, thinking everyone will see us the same. We want what we want. Sometimes it's better to let go and let people in. Go for what we want. They might just think we are the best thing in the world.
See you in book three, Their Vicious Darling.

Coming Up for Air Review

Book Source: Kindle  Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: Standalone Novel Starred Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Smut Rating: ๐ŸŒถ/5 Coming Up for Air by Amanda Meuwissen Review  I stumbled on this story and noticed the merman on the book cover. I didn't even think much into it---not even to read the synopsis---why I took such a chance was beyond me---and got the book. My childhood obsession with merfolks--not Ariel, I hated her---followed me into adulthood. Therefore, anything merfolk and I'm going to read it. This book fell into that category. And, I was glad I decided to read this book.   It all began when Leigh was dumped into the river by the mobster brothers, whom he stole from to appease the mafia he worked for. On the verge of drowning, he was kissed by an angel. Later he woke ashore without the shackles that the gangsters had tied around his ankle. Thinking nothing of it, Leigh went home, trying to come up with a plan to get himself out of the bind he ...

Ugly (Winter Sun, #1) Review

Book Source: Store Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: Standalone Series Starred Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Smut Rating: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ/5 Ugly (Winter Sun, #1) Review I was in the mood for an omegaverse when I stumbled on Ugly. My God was I not disappointed in my spontaneous decision. Ugly was that MM Romance I never knew I had to read. Like Burke, you could take care of me any day. Any day.  Emerson, a homeless omega, had found solitude in the bar of an older Alpha for the past three months. He never had a problem with the routine exchange of a few meals for a petty job here and there around the bar with the large alpha. Burke was caring and made him feel safe.  Burke could care less about the chores he asked the omega to do. It was a simple trade. Plus, Emerson never caused problems and often left after. Until one winter night. Three days before his heat cycle started, Emerson ended up in Burke's bar begging him to be allowed to stay until his cycle was over. The...

Home Plate (Easton U Pirates, #2) Review

Book Source: Book Store Cross-Post Review:  Chantie's Goodreads Review Type: MM Standalone Series  Starred Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice Rating: ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ/5 Home Plate (Easton U Pirates, #2) Review The electricity went out in my area and while bored I read book one, Bat Boy in this Easton U Pirates series, in one sitting. I'm a sucker for character arcs, so when I noticed Mason and Domonic in Bat Boy, I immediately shipped them. It thrilled me to know my intuitions were good and the duo was going to be a couple. So, I continued the trend and stayed up until the blink of dawn to read book two. Not a healthy idea since I had stuff to do in the day, but I wouldn't be a bookaholic if I never did an all-nighter for the sake of reading.  Back to the review.  Mason was the grumpy asshole while Domonic was the caring type. He wasn't overly adorable which fit his character and how the whole plot tied to Mason. I adored the banter between the two. Dominic knew how to handle Mason. H...
