Whit (Unexpected, #1) Review
Whit (unexpected, #1) written by Cora Rose was
a MM masterpiece. Caleb, the protagonist, was a once straight guy, who became
curious about his roommate, Whit. Curiosity did not kill this cat. He got the
good-good. Two men with opposite personalities had one thing in common. The
desire for the other. Their time together as roommates pushed them to accept each other. It never helped much when Caleb got sick, and Whit had to take care of him. Things went downhill from there. Or uphill. It depended on how you look at it.
Both characters were amazing. I couldn't even be upset when either made the wrong choices. Whit, included. I felt his pain when I shouldn't. Cora did a wonderful job in conveying each character's emotions. I loved every minute of it. Caleb's family was the best. I fell in love with every one of them. His cousins were to die for. I adored them.
To be honest, I was a bit upset that Caleb was
the uke. That disappointment didn’t last long, though. The back and forth interaction
between him and Whit kept me on the edge. I loved their chemistry. Oh,
and the disaster was just amazing. I did not see it coming. At all. There were
a few misplaced names, but nothing to hold back from the story. It’s a short
read, so easy to flash through.
I ended up loving the novel far more than I intended to. I rated Whit five stars out of five stars. I recommend this BL romance to readers who are struggling with their sense of self. It doesn't matter what others want us to do or be, as long as we love who we are, we will survive. We can move forward. Love doesn't have to come from blood relatives but strangers who turn into friends and family.
